The holiday season doesn't just double a bar's covers — it doubles the number of pours per hour, and it finds every weak tool in the drawer at the worst possible moment. A bartender can work around a missing garnish pick, but a speed pourer that drips, a jigger with faded markings, or a strainer with bent tines slows every ticket and quietly pushes pour cost up.
Every year we see the same pattern: venues order glassware and gift sets in October, then call us mid-December in a panic about tools. This checklist is the order we wish they'd placed in November. It's the seasonal companion to our guide to the ten tools every new bar actually needs — that one is for opening; this one is for the volume a bar only sees in December.
1. The four tools that decide your service speed
If I had to strip a busy service bar down to four tools — the ones that set the pace of the whole shift — it's these. Not the flashy ones. The ones that touch every drink.
Speed pourers
A speed pourer with a good air seal and a dust cap pours a steady, repeatable stream and keeps fruit flies out of the bottle overnight. Cheap ones dribble between pours, leak around the cork, and rust the bottle neck. For a holiday bar doing volume, the pourer is the single highest-leverage tool in the building — it's the part of your pour cost you control by the cent. We carry a speed pourer with dust caps at US$0.15 with MOQ 100.

Jiggers
When the rush hits, a double-sided jigger (15/30 ml on one side, 45/60 ml on the other) is the difference between hitting your recipe cost and quietly giving away a bottle every shift. Look for one-piece stainless with deep-etched markings — printed lines wash off in a commercial dishwasher within months, and then nobody measures anything.

Strainers
A Hawthorne-style strainer with a tight coil catches ice shards and citrus seeds without slowing the pour. The coil is the part that fails — bent or loose tines let ice through, and you'll notice it on your busiest night, not your quietest one. A two-prong design seats more steadily on the shaker tin, which matters when a bartender is pouring one-handed and already building the next ticket.

Bar spoons
A 30 cm 304 stainless bar spoon with a weighted or double head does three jobs: stirring, layering, and muddling soft ingredients. If it's cheap plated steel, the coating flakes after one season of citrus contact and hot dishwasher cycles. The 30 cm length matters more than buyers think — it has to reach the bottom of a tall mixing glass without the bartender's hand touching the rim.

2. How the four compare
| Tool | What it fixes | What breaks first | Stock per station |
|---|---|---|---|
| Speed pourer | Slow, uneven pours; bottle drips | Cork fit loosens, dust cap lost | 3 per well bottle + 30% spare |
| Jigger | Inconsistent recipe cost | Printed markings wash off | 2 per bartender |
| Strainer | Ice shards and seeds in the pour | Coil tines bend loose | 1 per tin + 1 spare |
| Bar spoon | Stirring, layering, muddling | Plating flakes, length too short | 2 per station |
3. How many to order for the season
When a bar runs two bartenders per station through the holidays, tools disappear — into the dishwasher, under the ice bin, into a server's apron. The safe rule is two working sets per station plus a spare bin on the shelf. Concretely:
- Speed pourers — count your well bottles and back bar, then order three per active bottle plus a 30% spare. A 40-bottle back bar lands around 120–150 pourers.
- Jiggers — two per bartender, one on each side of the rail, so nobody walks the length of the bar to measure.
- Strainers — one per shaker tin in rotation, plus one spare per station for the night one gets bent.
- Bar spoons — two per station; they wander into the kitchen and never come back.
A fifth tool worth adding for wine-heavy holiday service is a two-step corkscrew — cheap, nearly indestructible, and the one servers lose fastest. We stock a multifunction stainless corkscrew at US$0.15 with MOQ 50, and smart buyers throw a carton of them onto the same order.
4. What to put on the PO
Bar tools all look the same in a product photo, so the difference is in the spec line. Put these on the purchase order and hold the supplier to them:
- 304 (18/8) stainless in writing — 201 looks identical off the line but rusts in a damp bar within a season.
- One-piece pourer bodies with food-grade rubber or silicone corks, and dust caps included (they're a separate SKU from some suppliers).
- Deep-etched, not printed, jigger markings — etched lines survive the dishwasher; printed ones don't.
- Coil tension on strainers — the spring should be tight against the rim with no visible gap for ice to sneak through.
- Spoon length and weight — 30 cm overall, and a head that actually stirs rather than floats.
5. Order now, before the December freight squeeze
Tool production is fast — 7 to 15 days for standard items — but the holiday freight window is not. If you're reading this in early November, order now so tools ride with your glassware order or ahead of it, not as a panic air-freight shipment that eats the margin you saved. The month-by-month numbers are in our Christmas 2026 barware ordering deadlines post.

Stock the tools, then put a logo on them
These four tools are also the cheapest branded surface in the venue — a logo on a jigger or pourer costs pennies per piece at quantity and sits in front of a guest all night. We make the full bar tools range in our Hangzhou factory and can apply the same logo across the whole barware catalog, from tools to custom engraved drinkware.
