If you're reading this in late October, you're right on time — but only just. Every year we watch the same pattern: buyers in the US, UK and Australia start asking about Christmas bar gifts in September, place their serious orders in late October and early November, and then a second wave of last-minute RFQs lands in the first week of December asking for 2,000 engraved tumblers in ten days. That second wave is always too late.
This is the honest version of how Christmas ordering actually works from a factory's side: the four products that genuinely move, the engraving themes that sell, the production window you're working against, and the real prices and MOQs.
The four Christmas gifts that actually move
Buyers always ask me "what sells at Christmas?" It isn't one hero product — it's four categories that together cover every budget tier a wholesale buyer needs, from the US$0.85 stocking-stuffer to the US$8 premium client gift:
| Product | Typical buyer | Price tier | MOQ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Insulated stainless tumbler | Corporate gifts, staff gifts, office parties | US$1.35–1.70 | 500 pcs |
| Cocktail shaker set | Premium client gifts, retail | US$7–9 | 50 pcs |
| Stainless wine goblet | Holiday dinners, restaurants, events | US$2–3 | 100 pcs |
| Frosted glass can mug | Volume stocking-stuffers, promo companies | US$0.80–1.00 | 200 pcs |
One supplier can cover all four tiers, which matters more than you'd think: it means one production run, one QC inspection, one shipment and one invoice instead of four.
1. The 30oz insulated tumbler — the corporate workhorse
Corporate buyers reorder this every December, and for a simple reason: a double-wall vacuum tumbler is used daily for years, so the logo gets seen for years. It's the same logic as our corporate gifting guide — barware wins because it's used, not thrown in a drawer.
For Christmas, specify a matte seasonal color (deep green, oxblood red or snow white), add the company logo plus the year, and you have a gift that reads premium while landing around US$1.70 per piece at MOQ 500. Double-wall insulation keeps drinks hot or cold for hours, which is the spec your recipient will actually talk about.
2. The 10-piece Boston shaker set — the premium client gift
When the budget allows US$8–9 a unit, the cocktail shaker set is the gift that gets photographed and posted. A 10-piece set — Boston shaker, jigger, strainer, muddler, bar spoon and the rest — in a fitted box reads far more expensive than it costs.
Two things separate a good set from a disappointing one: the gauge of the steel and the fit of the shaker lid. Ask for 304 stainless and a lid that seals under ice-cold shaking; that's the difference between a set that lasts five holiday seasons and one that leaks by New Year's. More on seals in our shaker seal guide. A solid 10-piece set runs about US$7.88 at MOQ 50.
3. The stainless wine goblet — holiday dinners without the breakage
Glass wine glasses are elegant and fragile; that's a problem when your gift travels to a holiday dinner, gets handed around a table and is washed twice. A stainless steel goblet keeps the stemmed silhouette but survives being dropped, packed and shipped — which also makes it far cheaper to freight than its glass equivalent.
At US$2.50 at MOQ 100, a 500ml goblet with a laser-etched monogram or a small logo near the rim is a gift that looks bespoke without the bespoke price. This is also the pick for restaurants and event companies that want a branded glass for their December banquets without paying breakage on a thousand pieces.
4. The frosted glass can mug — the stocking-stuffer that scales
If your Christmas program is volume — promo companies, retail shelves, corporate "happy holidays" drops to hundreds of clients — this is the one. A frosted borosilicate glass can mug with a bamboo lid and straw looks like a boutique product at a cost that leaves you real margin: around US$0.85 at MOQ 200.
The frosted surface takes a single-color print or a wrap-around design cleanly, and because it's glass rather than plastic, it doesn't read as a throwaway. Pair it with a snowflake or a "Merry Christmas 2026" motif and it becomes the affordable gift people actually keep.
Engraving themes that sell at Christmas
On the factory floor, four Christmas themes come through again and again — in roughly this order:
- Company logo + year — the corporate standard. Year-dating makes it feel like a limited annual release.
- Monogram or first initial — reads personal, costs the same as a logo run.
- Snowflake, pine or star motifs — for retail and promo where there's no single recipient.
- "Merry Christmas 2026" text — clear, dated, and it sells through December.
Laser engraving is the method I'd choose for steel tumblers and goblets — it never wears off, and there's no per-color charge. For the frosted glass mugs, a single-color print or a wrap design is the right call. See our customization page for how each method works, and our engraving guide for artwork specs that save you a sample round.
The production window you're working against
This is the part most buyers underestimate. Working backwards from a December 20 delivery, the honest timeline looks like this:
| Stage | Time needed | When it must be done |
|---|---|---|
| Design, sample & approval | 7–10 days | Late October |
| Mass production (custom logo) | 15–25 days | Early–mid November |
| Sea freight to US/EU/AU | 20–30 days | Mid November |
| Air freight (rush) | 5–8 days | Early December |
| Customs + domestic delivery | 3–7 days | Mid December |
Sea freight is the only option that makes the unit economics work for a big order, and that's why late October is the real deadline for a relaxed Christmas. Order in December and you'll be paying air freight on tumblers — which can erase the whole margin. Our holiday ordering calendar walks through the same math month by month.
How to read the prices here
The prices below are Alibaba listing prices as of October 2026, FOB China, before freight and any logo setup fees. They're reference points for budgeting, not a final quote — your landed cost depends on quantity, decoration method and destination. No supplier can honestly promise a final price or a delivery date without seeing your artwork and address first.
